SPECIAL THANKS TO:
Arch. Adrianne Ong
Despite no longer being limited to professional artists, art stores are still confusing and intimidating places for most people, especially new creatives. Together with IFEX, we wanted to create a space where anyone—from seasoned artist to budding creative—can get the materials they need through an experience where they feel heard and understood.
We named the store Pulp & Pigment after our belief that the greatest of ideas can come from the simplest of things, and that the best works of art can come from anyone. We designed a brand experience that helps creatives appreciate the store’s curated materials in an environment that matched their vibrant and inspired lifestyles.
We wanted the brand to be fun, friendly, and colorful like the creative world we’ve always imagined.
The logo, an abstract interpretation of pulp and pigment, is paired with a modified typeface where each letter has a different style and characteristic. The quirky logotype and flexible logo application is a reminder that there is no one way to create and that everyone is a creative in their own right.
The brand’s key visuals are inspired by paper and paint, creating a wide selection of colors and shapes that can be used in endless inspired ways.
To provide a more welcoming and helpful experience, we put on our consumer hats and anticipated what details a customer might look for or need. We used these insights in mapping out the customer journey, especially when designing in-store collaterals and signages.
We worked with Arch. Adrianne Ong to design a creative wonderland overflowing with inspiration—living proof that with the right materials and a little imagination, anyone can create anything.
It doesn’t matter if you’re creating your hundredth masterpiece or picking up a brush for the first time. With a little pulp and pigment, anyone can have a world to create.
