Entrepreneur USA Feature

Entrepreneur US featured our work for The Girl + The Bull, citing it as one of the best examples of branding in their 2015 Creativity Issue.

Needless to say, Hamish Campbell’s feature had us tickled pink. Here’s what he had to say:

A great restaurant shouldn’t need incredible design to help it shine; its food should do the shining for it. That said, when a business combines great food and great design, it’s a place worth spending time.

The Girl + The Bull is a restaurant in Parañaque City, Philippines, whose branding, created by Manila-based Serious Studio, reflects not only the warmth of the cooking but the connection between chefs and their ingredients.

Silhouettes of a girl and a bull face off on stationery and menus, reminding consumers of the provenance of their food and the talented people who make it. Classical etching brings a homey feel to the brand’s illustrations, and photography brings the brand collateral to life. As an added touch, the restaurant’s website incorporates tiny bits of film, creating a moving quality that makes viewers feel as if they’re sitting in a friend’s kitchen. The warmth of the brand and the caliber of the food are a winning combination.

Yummy Magazine Feature

“Contemporary design has found a place to thrive at 12/10.”

The awesome folks at Yummy featured our work with 12/10 in their 9th anniversary issue. It was quite humbling to be featured alongside other notably well-designed restaurants in Manila.

“While the look of the brand quite obviously revolves around colourful images of living things and asymmetrical shapes, it was the creative freedom given to the designers at Serious Studio that gave the brand’s design a pulse.”

Preview Press Feature

We were featured by Preview Magazine in their annual creative it-list along with other notable creatives in the industry.

The feature involved a collaboration with Preview, in which we designed a embroidered jacket and mobile phone case for the quintessential Preview girl. Here’s a link to the online article written about our design, along with a brief interview with Deane, one of Serious Studio’s co-founders.

The issue also came with wrapping paper featuring the custom pattern we designed for the renowned fashion magazine.

To top it all off, we also made some fancy animations that Preview shared on social media.

Another Rogue Feature

The Rogue team commissioned a poster for Mark Meily’s Crying Ladies, as part of a feature on Filipino cinematic milestones. We redesigned the film’s poster to reflect the premise of the film, which features Sharon Cuneta, Hilda Koronel, and Angel Aquino as funeral criers-for-hire.

Let's work on something.
